BEING A GOOD HOST: The RedHawk men's swimming and diving team has the opportunity to continue its growth in the ninth annual Miami Invitational at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on Dec. 5-7. Despite the RedHawks being preoccupied with upcoming final exams, 13 teams hope to qualify for the NCAA cut in Miami's traditionally "fast" pool. Over 485 men's and women's swimmers will open with timed finals at 6 p.m. on Thursday night, as the meet runs through Saturday.
Senior Kelly Ball, who is the lone all-Mid-American Conference swimmer to return for Miami, will lead the Red and White this weekend as he prepares to exhibit his ability in front of a large audience. Ball has placed first in every meet he has competed.
In the past, many of the top Division I, II and III performances have come out of this winter meet. Indiana University, University of Toledo, and Kenyon College will challenge Miami for contention of the meet crown. The meet will feature a shorter format than previous years, due to Miami's final examinations.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION: Teams included in the meet are; Miami University, University of Cincinnati, Oberlin College, Wright State University, Indiana University, Kenyon College, John Hopkins University, Carnegie-Mellon University, Western Kentucky University, University of Toledo, Wheeling Jesuit, Lewis University, Emory University, and Illinois State University (Divers Only).
