Miami Women's Swimming and Diving Dominates Toledo and Akron

Oxford, Ohio-The Miami's women's swimming and diving team proved to the Mid-American Conference for the second straight meet that the RedHawks have the firepower to match up with anyone in the league.
The RedHawks defeated Akron by a score of 240-60 and Toledo 188-112 on Saturday afternoon at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatics Center. Miami took first or second in all but two of the 16 events on the afternoon.
Sophomore Trisha Lamb (Oregon, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy), junior Casey Mangano (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula), freshman Katie Unger (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) and senior Colleen Rambasek (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) started the day off with a bang when they won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.70.
Junior Amy Miranda (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) took the next race when she touched the wall first in the 1650-yard freestyle in 17:53.92.
In the fourth race of the afternoon, Lamb took home another first-place finish with a time of 58.83 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Mangano made it two straight events for Miami when she topped the field in the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 107.12.
Junior Jackie Hiltman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) got in on the act when she won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.17.
Lamb won her third race and second individual race of the day after beating the field in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 206.33.
Miranda became the second RedHawk to win two individual races after touching the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:00.44.
Unger became the third 200-yard medley relay winner to win an individual race when she swam past the competition with a time of 2:08.94 in the 200-yard individual medley.
Miami ended the swimming competion the same way it started; with a relay win. Rambasek, Hiltman, senior Kristen Sivard (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and sophomore Christel Frantz (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) beat out Toledo with a time of 3:34.89 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Freshman Christin Eberst (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) continued her dominance with her diving by winning both the one- and three-meter diving events.
Freshman Rachel Binge (Littleton, CO./J.K. Mullen) and Laura Rosenbarger (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) both had personal bests this afternoon. Binge swam 1.85 in the 100-yard backstroke while Rosenbarger swam 5:23.70 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Next up for Miami are the Buckeyes of Ohio State on Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio
