Post Game Quotes Miami University vs. Ohio University Yager Stadium Nov. 2, 2002

Miami Head Coach Terry Hoeppner Opening Statement "I'm really happy with our performance this afternoon. We've started some games according to script this year. Obviously we didn't start this one how we would have liked. However, I think it is very revealing in this case that we had more rushing yards then they did, and we had the ball for fifteen more minutes than they did. This was according to plan, and we wanted to be able to do that today. I'm really proud of the way we played today, and it sets us up to play the Herd in ten days."

On playing Marshall next week: "It's going to be a completely different game. We have to continue to make plays on both sides of the ball. When we looked at the schedule at the beginning of the year, we hoped we would be playing Marshall for the division championship. We won't have to put on our capes and play Superman to beat them, we just have to go in and play a good Miami football game."

Defensive back Matt Pusateri On limited defensive play in the first half: "It is definitely good when the defense isn't out there because it means things are going well. We were hungry and eager to go out in the second half and make some big plays to win the game. The coaches had us prepared for whatever they could throw at us."

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger On overall offensive play: "Our offense is very talented, both running and throwing the ball. We've got great personnel; our offensive line didn't give up any sacks again, our running backs ran hard, and our wide receivers made catches. When our offense clicks we're pretty good."

Ohio Fred Ray - Sr. QB "I thought the second half we moved the ball more effectively against their defense. The first half they did a really good job of shutting down our running game."

Lamar Martin - Sr. NG "Our goal is to play better defense than the other team every game, we did not accomplish that goal today."

Brian Knorr - Head Coach "I was very impressed with Miami's physical toughness, especially their offensive line, they did a great job blocking for the run."

"When you turn the ball over three times, when you are behind on the scoreboard, it makes it hard to gain any forward momentum."

"We had our opportunities to get back into the ball game, but we got ourselves into such a large hole early."

"The second half I think we moved the ball a lot more effectively, but Miami kept the pressure on and we just couldn't turn the game around."
