TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Luke Clemens ran for 71 yards and two touchdowns as Miami beat Toledo 27-13 Saturday night.
The RedHawks (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) scored 17 points in the second quarter. Cal Murray scored on a 9-yard run, Clemens scored on a 4-yard run and Jared Parseghian kicked a 28-yard field goal.
A 37-yard field goal by Parseghian in the third gave Miami a 20-0 lead before the Rockets (5-3, 3-1 MAC) scored when Brian Jones threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Clarke. Jones also ran for a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Clemens also scored on a 10-yard run in the fourth.
Jones finished 30-of-46 for 341 yards and led the Rockets with 68 yards rushing. William Bratton added 67 yards on 11 carries. Donta Greene caught seven passes for 110 yards. Nine Toledo receivers caught at least one pass and five - Greene, Clarke, Carl Ford, Manny Johnson and Chris Holmes - caught at least four.
Ben Roethlisberger finished 22-of-31 for 299 yards for Miami. Matt Brandt caught eight passes for 68 yards. Roethlisberger also punted three times, averaging 43 yards per kick.
