Saturday, October 26, 2002
Glass Bowl - Toledo, OH

Team Notes

-In ending Toledo's 17-game home winning streak, Miami (6-3, 4-1 MAC) improved to 5-1 on the road, tying for the national lead for road wins this season. The RedHawks' lone road defeat came on Sept. 14 at LSU.

-Miami's defense got off to a strong start, blanking an opponent in the first quarter for the fourth consecutive game and shutting out the opposition in the first half for the second straight outing.

-Despite allowing two lengthy Toledo drives in the first half, Miami's defense held fast in the red zone, forcing a fumble at its 13-yard line to stop an 83-yard Rocket drive and stopping Toledo on fourth and one at the RedHawk 10-yard line to foil a 59-yard second quarter drive. The RedHawks held again in the fourth quarter, stopping the Rockets on 4th and one from the nine-yard line.

-Miami's 17 second-quarter points were the most it has scored in a quarter in more than two seasons.

-Prior to Jared Parseghian's 28-yard field goal in the second half, Miami had tallied 14 touchdowns in its previous 14 scoring drives.

-Toledo's touchdown pass with 2:46 remaining in the third quarter ended a scoreless streak by the Miami defense that extended over more than 103 minutes since the fourth quarter of Miami's Oct. 12 loss to Northern Illinois.
