Ed Kennedy Relay Meet
Women's Swimming and Diving Wins Ed Kennedy Relays

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - While in Florida for winter training, Miami competed in and won the Ed Kennedy Relays Dec. 31 at the International Swimming Hall of Fame Aquatic Complex. The RedHawks finished first in the Female Division I Division with 264 points, beating the likes of Towson (224), Wisconson-Milwaukee (212) and Eastern Illinois (200).
Senior Kelly Janura (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and sophomore Amy Miranda (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) won the 50-meter and 200-meter freestyle, respectively. Janura finished in 27.94 while Miranda touched the wall in 2:13.99.
Miami won four of the five relay events as well. The 200 medley relay team of senior Emily Nayes (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), junior Kristen Sivard (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and freshmen Trisha Lamb (Oregon, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) and Michelle Reynolds (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) was victorious in a time of 2:09.21. Reynolds, junior Heather Kelley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and freshman Cortney Dice (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) teamed up to take the top spot in the 150 butterfly with a 1:33.13 clocking.
The RedHawks' 150 back trio of Lamb, junior Sara Brodbeck (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) and sophomore Emily Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula) claimed first in 1:40.36 while Janura, Sivard, Brodbeck and junior Jackie Hiltman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) beat the field in the 200 free relay, coming in with a time of 1:52.40.
Miami is in action 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 in Oxford against the University of Cincinnati.
