Men's Swimming And Diving Romps Over Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio - Miami's men's swimming and diving team crushed conference rival Toledo on Friday night, 149-94, improving its overall mark to 8-1 and its Mid-American Conference record to 3-0. The RedHawks won 10 of the 13 events on the evening.
Seniors John Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) and Eric DiSalle (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis) put on a show in front of the hometown fans. Carroll won the 400 individual medley in 4:00.39 and the 200 butterfly in 1:49.96, and also swam a leg of Miami's first-place 400 medley relay team, which finished in 3:28.18. DiSalle took top honors in the 200 back, with a 1:53.54 clocking, and was part of the RedHawks' first-place 400 medley and 800 free relay teams.
Junior Kelly Ball (Granger, Ind./Penn) also turned in an impressive showing, reaching the deck first in the 200 (1:41.35) and 500 free (4:35.55) while swimming anchor for the 800 free relay.
Other individual winners included sophomore David Fraas (Ashland, Ohio/St. Francis), in the 100 free with a time of 47.33, senior Dylan Nichols (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike), in one-meter diving with a score of 287.63, and freshman Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), on the three-meter board with 277.05 points. Fraas also swam a leg of the 800 free relay.
The RedHawks' next competition is Feb. 1 at 6 p.m., when they travel to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons as well as the Ohio Bobcats.
