Synchronized Skaters Have Strong Showing At Mid-America Competition

Dearborn, Mich. - The Miami University Senior Synchronized Skating team competed this weekend at the Mid-America Competition at the Dearborn Figure Skating Club. The RedHawk skaters finished second in the short program and brought home the gold in the long program, stealing the crown from the Crystallettes of the Dearborn Figure Skating Club (FSC).
Miami finished behind Team Elan (Detroit FSC) in the short program with one first-place vote, four second-place votes, and four third-place votes. On Miami's heals were the Crystallettes in third, followed by Western Michigan and Michigan in fourth and fifth. Rounding out the results in the short program were Team Revolution (Illinois Valley FSC) and the Goldenettes (Garfield Heights FSC).
The RedHawks were the dominant team in the long program with four first-place votes, four second-place votes, and one third-place vote. Looking up at Miami were the Crystallettes in second and Team Elan in third. Michigan and Western Michigan flip-flopped placement in the long program finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Finishing sixth was Team Revolution and the Goldenettes placed seventh.
The Miami Senior Synchronized Skating team competes next when it travels over seas to Rouen, France for the French Cup International on Feb. 7-10. In the meantime, the Collegiate team competes this weekend, Jan. 25-26., in Kalamazoo, Mich. at the Western Michigan Team & Singles Competition.
