OXFORD, Ohio -- Coach Dave Jennings continues to have one of his top women's swimming and diving recruiting classes since coming to Miami 19-years ago as he added five more swimmers during the spring signing period. With the five new signees, Jennings recruiting total is now at 18 swimmers and divers.
Michelle Reynolds (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) heads the list of signees for Miami during the spring period. Reynolds, who swims for Powel-Crosley YMCA under the guidance of Mike Leonard, was the Ohio High School State Champion in the 100-yard butterfly this year and finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly at the YMCA National Championships this spring. She was also a finalist in the 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle at the YMCA Nationals. In the 200-yard butterfly, Reynolds is the fastest incoming freshman in Miami history."
"Michelle is going to be a great addition to our team," Jennings said. "Besides being an amazing butterfly swimmer, she has really developed her diversity in freestyle and individual medley events, which will give us more depth in these events."
Miami's other commitments include Courtney Dice (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton), Morgan Kautz (Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson), Andrea Hocevar (Richmond Heights, Ohio/Hawken) and Claire Woods (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central).
Dice was a Pennsylvania High School state finalist in the 100 yard butterfly and breaststroke. Kautz was a Illinois High School state qualifier in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.
Hocevar, who swims club for the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins under the guidance of Jerry Holtry, was a Ohio High School state finalist in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle. Woods is expected to add depth in the middle distance freestyle events. She was a top 16 scorer at the Indiana State Swimming Championships for North Central. She was a Indiana High School state finalist in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle.
"I think this is one of the strongest and deepest recruiting classes we have had since I came to Miami," Jennings said. "I feel we have addressed many areas where we had holes to fill."
