HONOLULU (AP) - Dyree Wilson scored four of his six points on free throws in the final minute and Leland Norris added a breakaway layup Saturday night to lead Iona to a 57-51 victory over Miami of Ohio in the third-place game of the Rainbow Classic.
With the score tied at 51, Wilson made the back-ends of a pair of two-shot free throws sandwiched around Norris' steal to give the Gaels (4-7) a four-point lead. Wilson then sealed the win with two more free throws with six seconds left.
The second half shooting of Courtney Fields and Maceo Wofford provided the spark Iona needed to catch the RedHawks (3-6), who held a nine-point lead at one point.
Fields got 13 of his 16 points after intermission and Wofford got all of his eight points over the final 20 minutes.
After Miami took a 26-23 halftime lead, Fields scored on a three-point play and Wofford added a basket to tie it at 28. The lead changed hands seven times and the score was tied three times from that point until Wilson's free throw shooting.
Alex Shorts provided most of the RedHawks' offense with 27 points, including an 11-of-12 performance from the foul line. However, they were only 1-of-9 from long distance.
For Iona, Norris and Greg Jenkins also had eight points.
