Men's Swimming Opens Season By Falling at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Miami's men's swimming team was overwhelmed Friday night by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. by a score of 172.50-122.50, but that did not prevent them from coming away with some outstanding individual performances, as four swimmers won an event.
Senior John Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) finished first in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 1:51.33. Senior Eric Disalle (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis) took the top spot in the 200 individual medley, touching the wall in 1:54.13. The 100 freestyle belonged to junior Kelly Ball (Granger, Ind./Penn), who won the event in a time of 47.60. Rounding out the RedHawk winners was senior Dylan Nichols (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) was victorious on the one-meter board, finishing with a score of 290.17.
The squad is in action at home Saturday, Nov. 3 against Ball State and Northern Illinois.
