RedHawks Finish Second at Ed Kennedy Relays

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- Miami University's women's swimming team took home second-place, out of nine teams, at the Ed Kennedy Relays on December 31. The RedHawks finished with a score of 111, which was only six points behind Iowa State, who finished with 117 points.

Junior Kelly Janura (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.81. Junior Hillary Mason (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) was the top finisher in the only other individual race in the meet. Mason placed fourth in the in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:17.26.

The RedHawks finished second in both the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 150 yard breaststroke relay with times of 1:54.21 and 1:50.28, respectively.

The women's squad kicks off the 2001 portion of its schedule in Cincinnati against the Bearcats this Friday at 6 p.m.
