Mens Swimming and Diving Wins Second Straight Meet

GAMBIER, OHIO -- Junior Kevin Mulgrew (Malden, Mass./Malden Catholic) and Eric DiSalle (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis) helped Miami Universitys mens swimming and diving team defeat Division III power Kenyon Saturday afternoon 124-99. The win is the RedHawks second straight and moves their season record to 6-4 overall.
Mulgrew earned first-place honors in the 500 and 1,000 yard freestyle and the 400 yard individual medley. He finished the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.37, the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:38.58 and the 400 IM with a time of 4:05.85. DiSalle was victorious in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.18, and teamed up with freshmen Ken Sensenbrenner (Champaign, Ill./Central) and David Fraas (Ashland, Ohio/St. Francis) and sophomore Kelly Ball (Granger, Ind./Penn) to win the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:07.23.
Junior Dylan Nichols (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) took home first-place in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 246.45.
The RedHawks 400 yard medley relay team of freshman Andrew Keefe (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier), senior John Kirk (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson), junior Ryan Gandre (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and Ball took first-place with a time of 3:31.76.
The mens team is back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 against Ohio and Bowling Green in Athens, Ohio.
