RedHawks Men's Squad Defeats Toledo in MAC Action

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Miami University's men's swimming and diving team (5-4, 2-1) notched its second conference victory of the season by defeating Toledo 136-107 Friday evening.
Junior Kevin Mulgrew (Malden, Mass./Malden Catholic) kicked the winning off for the RedHawks by winning the 1,650 yard freestyle with a time of 15:58.62. Mulgrew also finished second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:42.34.
Sophomore Kelly Ball (Granger, Ind./Penn) was the big winner of the evening following his first-place finishes in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle. Ball won the 200 with a time of 1:42.47, and he edged out Mulgrew in the 500 with a time of 4:41.96.
Junior Eric DiSalle (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis) was also victorious in two events having won the 200 yard backstroke, with a time of 1:54.11, and the 200 yard individual medley, with a time of 1:53.76.
Juniors John Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) and Dylan Nichols (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) earned individual first-place honors in the 200 butterfly and three-meter diving competition, respectively.
The men are back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday, when they go against Division III power Kenyon in Gambier, Ohio.
