Miami Holds On To Second Heading Into Final Day

ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 25) - Miami University's women's swimming and diving teams could not pick up any ground on Ohio University at the Mid-American Conference Championships, clinging to second place with 454.5 points. The Bobcats extended their lead collecting 542 total points.
Senior Amanda Furlano (New Albany, Ohio/Columbus Academy) was the lone RedHawk to earn an individual MAC Championship as she swam to a season-best time of 1:04.52 in the 100 breaststroke. Furlano has won the 100 breaststroke championship for the third straight year, while picking up a second-place finish during her freshman campaign.
With her time of 4:23.87, sophomore Emily Nayes (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) set a Miami record in the 400 IM. The previous record was set in 1997 by Michelle Brym.
The final day of competition will conclude February 26, in Athens. The finals are set for 7 p.m.
