RedHawks Swimming and Diving Team Defeats Valparaiso and Xavier

Freshman Brad Bartel (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) led the men's squad by winning the 100 butterfly, with a time of 54.65, and the 400 IM, with a time of 4:20.80. The 200 medley relay team of senior Will Sensenbrenner (Champaign, Ill./Central), juniors John Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) and Ryan Gandre (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and sophomore Andy Norr (Schoolcraft, Mich./Portage Central) took first-place with a time of 1:41.85. Norr was also victorious in the 1000 freestyle, with a time of 10:06.38. Freshmen Andrew Keefe (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and Steve Tamas (Stratford, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and sophomores Dave Bergan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and Kelly Ball (Granger, Ind./Penn) were the other individual winners for the RedHawks. Keefe won the 200 freestyle (1:47.20), Tamas won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.43), Bergan won the 50 freestlye (21.93) and Ball rounded out the winning finishing first in the 200 butterfly (1:58.54). Senior Steve Capadona (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) was victorious in the three-meter diving event and runner-up on the one-meter.
The men's swimming and diving team is back in action December 1-3 when they host the seventh annual Miami Invitational. Morning sessions will begin at 9 a.m. each day, and evening sessions will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
