Swimming and Diving Squad Falls to Big Ten Power

After not having a winner in the first nine events, the RedHawks won three of the last four. Junior Kevin Mulgrew (Malden, Mass./Malden Catholic) was victorious in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:40.33. Junior Dylan Nichols (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) rebounded from a third-place finish on the one-meter diving board to win the three-meter competition with a total score of 342.30. The only other winner for the RedHawks was senior Don Smith (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier), who took home first-place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.82.
Junior Eric DiSalle (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis) placed second in the 200 IM (1:54.19) and the 200 backstroke (1:55.56).
The men's squad is back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Cowin M. Nixon Aquatic Center, when they compete against Xavier and Valparaiso.
