The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute of the game when midfielder Rachel Schmidt scored on a penalty kick after being tripped inside the Miami box. On the same play, Miami forward Andrea Cunningham (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) was issued a yellow card. This would be the first of three yellow cards issued to the RedHawks.
After going into halftime down 1-0, the RedHawks struck back early in the second half when forward Courtney Julian (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) slid the ball into the Eagles' goalie box and Cunningham deposited the ball past Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Sarah Willis to knot the game at 1-1. Cunningham's goal gave her 14 for the season.
With the game looking like it was headed to overtime, Kulikowski took control of a ball and scored past Miami goalkeeper Laura Degelleke (Barrington, Ill./North Barrington) to give the Eagles the win.
With the loss, the RedHawks fall to 9-6 overall and 7-3 in the MAC, while the Eagles up their record to 9-6-2 overall and 7-3 in the conference.
The RedHawks are back in action at 1 p.m. Sunday for their MAC season finale against Central Michigan at Miami Soccer Field.
