RedHawks Open Indoor Season With Fourth-Place Finish

Leading the RedHawks was freshman Briana Shook (Tiffin, Ohio/Seneca East), who captured Miami's only individual championship with a win in the mile run (5:017.19). Shook also earned a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run, clocking a 10:23.64. Miami's most impressive overall showing was in the 60-meter dash, where senior Leslie Smith (Massillon, Ohio/Perry) and freshman Erika Harper (Bedford, Ohio) finished a respective second and third in times of 7.74 and 7.90.
Other point scorers for the RedHawks included junior Jessica Luckett (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Christian), who finished second in the 800-meter run (2:18.73), freshman Brienne Wade (Papillion, Neb./Lavista), who captured third in the pole vault (9-02.25), freshman Erica Barnett (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), who captured fourth in the 400-meter dash (59.10) and junior Carrie Mitchell (Fairview, Pa./McDowell), who took home fourth in the triple jump (38-01.5).
Miami doesn't take to the track again until Feb. 4-5, when it competes at the Kentucky Invitational.
