Bruce Cunningham joined the Miami Golf staff in 2024 as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
The 2024-25 season, Cunningham's first with the program, saw Miami achieve a top-100 national ranking for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign. The RedHawks won the team title at Hawaii’s Kapolei Invitational in October and shared the match play championship with Seton Hall at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate the following March. Michael Weber earned medalist honors at the Purdue Fall Invitational and was one of three RedHawks to be named All-MAC (Morgan Blythe – First Team, Weber and Brett Podobinski – Second Team). Miami finished the year with a 94-53-3 record and took fifth place at the MAC Championships. The RedHawks produced three Academic All-MAC honorees and three Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.
Cunningham retired from Eastern Michigan in 2024 after 30 years as the EMU head coach. He led the Eagles to MAC championships in 2007, 2008 and 2019, with numerous top-three finishes throughout his tenure. Cunningham is a three-time MAC Coach of the Year and placed a team or individual in six NCAA Tournaments during his time at EMU, producing 40 All-America Scholars over an impressive tenure that stretched for three decades.
