Canadiens Take Runtso in Second Round of NHL Draft

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Incoming Miami University defenseman Timmy Runtso was selected in the second round of the NHL Draft today. Runtso was taken 57th overall by the Montreal Canadiens.
Runtso, a native of Playa Vista, Calif., will be a freshman with the RedHawks in 2026-27. He spent last season with the Victoria Royals in the WHL, putting up 44 points (11-33-44) in 68 appearances. He was also named NAHL Central Division Rookie of the Year in 2024-25 after a 27-point season (8-19-27) with the St. Cloud Norsemen.
