RedHawks Return to Indianapolis for Heartland Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The Miami track and field team traveled to Indianapolis this weekend to compete in the Heartland Invitational at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Nora Zubillaga ran the fifth-best mile time (4:48.12) in Miami's program history. Avery Emerson also broke into the top 10 record book with an 800 time of 2:10.04, which is the fourth-best run in the 800 in program history. Mia Boule and Emily Eterovich continued their stellar seasons with pole vaults of 3.80 meters.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- On the field, Kylie Adams and Maya Reed took fifth and ninth place, respectively, in long jump. Adams jumped 5.65 and Reed jumped 5.41.Â
- Boule and Eterovich took fifth and seventh place in the pole vault invitational, both vaulting 3.80 meters. Addison Crichley placed third and vaulted a height of 3.66.
- In the high jump invitational, Ella Garvin placed seventh, jumping 1.71m.
- In the first heat of the 3000m, Grace Streek finished first, running a 10:39.94. In the second heat of the 3000m, Marisa Heil placed 11th, with a time of 9:52.37 and Monica Guijarro placed 14th with a time of 9:59.49.
- Rachel Smith, Keena Sanders, Addison Smith and Sophia Scavuzzo took 15th, 43rd, 49th and 51st, respectively, in the 400m dash. Rachel Smith finished in 56.85, Sanders in 59.40, Addison Smith in 1:01.60 and Scavuzzo in 1:02.23.
- Zubillaga and Emma Berres ran the mile, with Zubillaga placing seventh and posting the fifth-best time in program history, 4:48.12. Berres came in 36th, running a 5:29.30.
- In the 200m dash, Camryn Dunn placed 23rd with a time of 25.09, Riley Betz placed 28th with a time of 25.25 and Lauren Jessup-Aiken placed 36th with a time of 25.55.
- Emerson secured a second-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:10.04 and Eve Traficanti placed seventh with a time of 2:12.32. Emerson's 2:10.04 time is the fourth-best all-time run in the 800 in Miami's program history.Â
- In the 5k, Cara Razavi placed eighth, running the race in 17:28.59.
- In the 4x400m relay, Jessup-Aiken, Rachel Smith, Emerson and Traficanti ran a collective 3:53.44, for a 10th-place finish.
- Competing unattached, Ella Scally took second in the long jump invitational (6.15m) and second in the 60m final (7.45 seconds).
- Matthew Shuler secured third place in the 60m dash, running it in 6.78 seconds.
- In the 400m dash, Joey Valeski took eighth place with a time of 48.49. Valeski also took 10th in the 200m dash with a time of 21.92.
- In the mile, Tom Heal (4:06.09) took second place, Luke Mussard (4:07.39) took fourth, Josh Razor (4:14.06) took ninth, Ben Fahnestock (4:14.94) took 11th and Adrian Stechschulte (4:18.86) took 16th.
- In the 5k, Petros Sanchez Ropero placed third with a time of 14:16.41, Evan Jarold placed sixth with a time of 14:27.86, Anton Martinez placed 15th with a time of 15:02.61, Taman Chokshi placed 16th with a time of 15:05.08 and Weston Naville placed 18th with a time of 15:13.29.
- The 4x400 relay team of Valeski, Jaxson Tober, Mussard and Stechschulte placed eighth with a time of 3:25.43.
