de Vries Recognized as MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND— Miami sophomore forward Ilse de Vries was named MAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. de Vries averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks last week, helping the RedHawks to wins over Buffalo and Ball State. The Groningen, Netherlands native shot 48.6% from the floor and was 6-of-16 (37.5%) from long distance as the RedHawks improved to a perfect 8-0 in MAC play. She opened the week with 17 points, six rebounds and five blocks in a 76-52 win at home versus Buffalo. On Saturday, she had a career-high 23 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in a 72-52 win at Ball State in a matchup of the conference's last two unbeaten teams in league play. She knocked down a career-best five three-pointers at BSU to help Miami to its first win in Muncie since 1998.
