COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Miami sophomore Matteo Drobac was named NCHC Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced today. This is the third time Drobac has won the award this season.
The Oakville, Ontario native stopped 62 of the 64 shots he faced across two games at Arizona State last weekend, helping Miami earn a series split with the Sun Devils. Drobac's 37 saves in a 2-1 overtime triumph Friday was the most by a Miami goalie in a victory since Feb. 25, 2023 and helped the RedHawks win when scoring two or less goals for the first time since Nov. 26, 2023. Drobac and Miami were a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill this weekend, including a major, against a Sun Devils team that came into the weekend tied for fifth in the nation in power-play goals.
The RedHawks are back in action for a home series against Omaha beginning Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:05 p.m. at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.
