CLEVELAND, Ohio—Miami University volleyball senior middle blocker Gentry Warrick was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week following her performances at the Best Western Invitational last week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Warrick set the tone for the Red and White defensively at the Miami/Best Western Invitational, as she recorded 17 blocks (1.42/set) to help lead the RedHawks to a tournament championship. Aside from her blocking efforts, she also contributed 16 kills (1.33/set) and five digs (0.42/set). In Miami's two wins against Middle Tennessee and Duquesne, she posted 15 blocks (1.67/set), three of which were solo blocks. Warrick continues to lead the MAC in total blocks (58) and blocks per set (1.61) after this weekend's play.
This is the first MAC weekly award for a RedHawk this season.
