LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Miami Field Hockey took their first loss of the season Friday in a 3-1 contest against the No. 15 Iowa Hawkeyes as a part of the Midwest Challenge Tournament. Miami falls to 3-1 with the loss while Iowa moves to 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The RedHawks struck first as Sloane Wearren scored her first career goal four minutes into the first period. Bet Gifra recorded an assist on the goal.
The Hawkeyes answered five minutes later with a score of their own, tying the game at 1-1 through one period.
Miami gathered three penalty corners in the second period, but the score remained 1-1 at halftime.
Iowa's offense surged in the third period, scoring five minutes in to make it 2-1 and scoring again on a penalty corner just as time expired.
Despite a strong defensive showing for the RedHawks in the fourth period, the 3-1 score held, capping off the first loss of the season for Miami.
