
RedHawks Fall to Hawkeyes in Midwest Challenge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Miami Field Hockey took their first loss of the season Friday in a 3-1 contest against the No. 15 Iowa Hawkeyes as a part of the Midwest Challenge Tournament. Miami falls to 3-1 with the loss while Iowa moves to 4-1.

- The RedHawks struck first as Sloane Wearren scored her first career goal four minutes into the first period. Bet Gifra recorded an assist on the goal.
- The Hawkeyes answered five minutes later with a score of their own, tying the game at 1-1 through one period.
- Miami gathered three penalty corners in the second period, but the score remained 1-1 at halftime.
- Iowa's offense surged in the third period, scoring five minutes in to make it 2-1 and scoring again on a penalty corner just as time expired.
- Despite a strong defensive showing for the RedHawks in the fourth period, the 3-1 score held, capping off the first loss of the season for Miami.
