OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head women's basketball coach Glenn Box has announced that Maya Chandler will join his staff as an assistant coach.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to step into this new role as an assistant coach and I'm ready to bring energy, focus and passion to the court," said Chandler. "I'm grateful for this opportunity and excited to help these student athletes grow and compete at the highest level."
Chandler played this past season with the RedHawks, posting 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She scored in double figures 18 times and had a career-high 26 points on Senior Day in a win over Northern Illinois.
"Maya has proven herself to be a winner who understands what it takes to represent Miami University," said Box. "She embodies what a student-athlete is all about. Her understanding of our systems and the instant credibility that she brings as a mentor makes her a welcome addition to our staff."
Prior to joining the RedHawks, Chandler started 18 games at Southern Methodist University during the 2023-24 campaign and played three years at Loyola Chicago from 2020-2023. She was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year back in 2020-21.
She has also spent time as a personal basketball trainer in Indianapolis, Ind., during the summer of 2022 and 2023 and volunteered at several foundations during her playing career, including time with Care for Real, Desert Rose Foundation and local basketball camps for young athletes.
Chandler completed her economics degree from SMU in 2024.
