RedHawks Excel in Clark Wood Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Â The Miami outdoor track & field teams competed in the Clark Wood Invitational at the University of Louisville this weekend. Two different RedHawk student-athletes took home first place-finishes.

The RedHawks will head to Columbus, Ohio next weekend (May 2-3) to compete in the Jesse Owens Track Classic at Ohio State.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the field for the women, Ella Rigel claimed first place in the women's hammer throw event with 59.59 meters. In the women's "B flights" pole vault event, Mia Boule took home first place with 3.96 meters. Emily Eterovich also competed in the pole vault, and she finished in second place with 3.81 meters. Allie Melchiorre finished in fourth place in the women's javelin throw event with a season-best distance of 41.58 meters. Maggie Dougherty also competed in the event, and she finished in seventh place with 37.49 meters. Ella Garvin finished in ninth place in the women's "Inv A" high jump event with 1.55 meters. In the women's "B and C flights" high jump event, Madison Sisler finished in third place with 1.55 meters. Sharron Kagan finished in ninth place in the women's "flight 1 and 2" discus throw with 36.44 meters. Grace Hicks (3.51 meters) finished in seventh place in the women's "C flights" pole vault event, while Addison Crichley (3.36 meters) finished eighth in the event. Ella Scally finished in 10th place in the women's long jump invite with 5.94 meters.Â
- In the women's 200-meter dash, Abby Suszek finished in fourth place with a new personal-best time of 23.67 seconds. With this performance, Suszek resets her mark at second all-time in RedHawk history for the event. Lucca Agate also ran in the women's 200-meter dash, and she finished in 12th place with a new PR time of 24.19 seconds. Agate beat her previous time by nearly two tenths of a second, and she now ranks fifth in program history for the event. Suszek (54.78 seconds) and Agate (55.98 seconds) also ran in the women's 400-meter dash, and they finished in second and ninth place, respectively. Keira McGregor and Ella Scally finished in 18th and 19th place in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.84 seconds. This time marks a PR for both McGregor and Scally, as they both move into seventh all time in school history for the event. The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Agate, Scally, Suszek, and Mae Reed finished in fourth place with a season-best time of 3:46.35. In the women's 4x100-meter relay, the Miami team of Riley Betz, Scally, McGregor, and Scally finished in sixth place with a time of 46.20 seconds.
- On the field for the men, Andrew Farrow finished in sixth place in the men's long jump event with a new personal-best distance of 7.29 meters. Matthew Howard finished in sixth place in the men's javelin throw event with 52.13 meters. In the men's pole vault event, Henry Hoblitzell finished in sixth place with 4.76 meters. Adam Smith finished in eighth place in the men's "Inv A" discus throw with 50.33 meters. In the men's discus throw "flight 2 and 3", Richard Obioha finished in sixth place with 46.96 meters.
- The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Micah Schuster, Leo Bouldin, JD Leverette, and Joey Valeski finished in sixth place with a time of 3:15.91. In the men's 4x100-meter relay, the RedHawk team of Rondale Carridine, Bouldin, Mitchell Wiemuth, and Matthew Shuler came in ninth place with a time of 42.17 seconds. Jaxson Tober finished in 14th place in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 54.59 seconds.
The RedHawks will head to Columbus, Ohio next weekend (May 2-3) to compete in the Jesse Owens Track Classic at Ohio State.
