RedHawks Complete Day One of Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C.-- The Miami track and field teams traveled to NC State University this weekend to compete in the Raleigh Relays. The RedHawks had 10 different student-athletes competing across six different events on the first day of the meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the field for the men, Ben Riegel finished third in his flight and 12th overall in the men's shot put throw, achieving a season-best mark of 16.13 meters. In the men's javelin throw, Matthew Howard won his flight and finished 21st overall with a mark of 51.63 meters, while CJ Johnson Jr. (48.02 meters) and Adam Smith (47.40 meters) placed sixth and eighth in their flight (26th and 28th place overall), respectively. Â
- In the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, Conall McGinness placed second in his section and 22nd overall with a new PR time of 8:52.43. McGinness beat his previous PR by nearly 14 seconds and broke the nine-minute mark for the first time. In the men's 10000-meter run, Patrick Wills placed seventh in his section and 53rd overall with a personal-best time of 29:02.97. With this performance, Wills beat his previous PR by more than a minute.Â
- On the field for the women, Allie Melchiorre finished 12th in her flight and 26th overall in the women's javelin throw, recording a season-best mark of 40.04 meters.
