SERIES HISTORY: Miami is 1-4 all-time versus the Dukes. These same two teams competed back on March 15, 2018 in the opening round of the WNIT, a contest Duquesne won 69-56. Miami's lone victory in the series was back on Jan. 5, 2013 (54-49) in Pittsburgh.
LAST GAME: NOTES FROM MAC TOURNAMENT LOSS TO KENT STATEÂ
• Miami dropped a 68-61 decision in the MAC Quarterfinals to Kent State back on March 12.
• The RedHawks led 22-20 midway through the second quarter, but a 16-0 KSU run doomed the Red and White.
• Miami closed the gap, 54-50 with 8:32 on the clock, but Miami would get no closer.
• Maya Chandler led the way with 23 points and Amber Tretter had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
• Miami committed eight turnovers, matching its lowest total since February 2022 (the RedHawks also had eight vs. Eastern Michigan on Feb. 5, 2025).
WINNING WITH DEFENSE: Miami ranks atop the conference, allowing 58.7 points per game (60th nationally), which is the second-best defensive effort in program history (The 1977-78 Miami team allowed 56.9 ppg.) The RedHawks have held seven opponents to under 50 points this season.
• Miami ranks 16th nationally, forcing 21.2 turnovers per contest. The RedHawks are 13-4 on the year when they force their opponent into 20-plus turnovers.Â
• Miami leads the conference with 11.5 steals/game (14th nationally) and features five players ranked in the top-20 in the MAC: Tamar Singer (2.2, fourth), Enjulina Gonzalez (1.8, 9th), Cori Lard (1.7, 12th), Amber Tretter (1.5, 16th) and Maya Chandler (1.3, 19th).
POINTING TO THE PAINT: Miami is 11-2 this season when they record at least 28 points in the paint and 2-3 this season when posting under 20 points in the paint.
THAT 70'S SHOW: It's not all about defense when it comes to Miami. The RedHawks are a perfect 11-0 this year when they score 70-plus points in a contest. They scored a season-high 89 points to close out the regular season with a win over NIU.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES: Last season Miami averaged 53.9 ppg. and allowed 63.8 ppg. for a scoring margin of -9.9/game. This season the script has flipped as the RedHawks average 66.5 ppg. and allow 58.7 ppg. for a scoring margin of +7.8. Between the two seasons, Miami has a 17.7 improvement in scoring margin.
SMASHING RECORDS: In head coach Glenn Box's first season, the RedHawks posted a  9-20 overall and 6-12 record in MAC play. This season, Miami has won 10 more games than they did the previous year, which matches the +10 win improvement the 2017-18 RedHawks accomplished (11 wins in 2016-17 // 21 wins in 2017-18). A win over Duquesne would give Miami the greatest single-season turnaround in program history.
20-PLUS LEAGUE: A win over Duquesne would also give Miami its first 20-win season since the 2018-19 campaign and in fact, would be just the sixth time this century the RedHawks have captured a 20-win season.
