RedHawks Impress at Gem City Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-- The Miami indoor team traveled to compete in the University of Dayton's Gem City Invitational this Saturday. RedHawk student-athletes captured first place in 15 different events during the meet, which was held on the campus of Wittenberg University in Springfield. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Suszek finished in first in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 53.36 seconds. This time marks a new PR for Suszek as she beat her previous time by 1.11 seconds, and she replaces her own second-place time in Miami history for the 400-meter dash. Rachel Smith (58.38 seconds) and Keena Sanders (58.72 seconds) also ran in the 400-meter dash, and they finished in seventh and 10th place, respectively. In the women's 60-meter dash prelims, Scally qualified for the finals by finishing in second place with a time of 7.58 seconds. Keira McGregor (7.77 seconds) and Riley Betz (7.75 seconds) also ran in the 60-meter dash prelims, and they finished in fourth and seventh place, qualifying for the finals. In the finals, Scally finished in second place with a time of 7.59 seconds. McGregor (7.70 seconds) and Betz (7.72 seconds) finished in fourth and fifth place. In the women's 60-meter hurdle prelims, Sydney Harmon (9.52 seconds) and Erin Connors (9.55 seconds) finished in third and eighth place to qualify for the finals. In the finals, Harmon (9.44 seconds) and Connors (9.52 seconds) finished in seventh and eighth place. Avery Emerson (2:12.50) and Eve Traficanti (2:14.47) finished in second and seventh place in the women's 800-meter run. In the women's 200-meter dash, Chloe Rickson finished in eighth place with a time of 26.02 seconds. The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Gretchen Feldkamp, Emerson, Nora Zubillaga, and Traficanti finished in fifth place with a time of 4:00.05.
- On the field for the women, Scally finished in first place in the women's long jump event with 6.27 meters. This distance marks a new PR for Scally as she beats her previous record by .02 meters and replaces her own record for first place in the women's long jump event in RedHawk history. Rickson also competed in the women's long jump event, and she finished in second place with 5.79 meters. With this performance, Rickson set a new PR by .13 meters, and she is now tied for fourth place in RedHawk history for the women's long jump event. Ella Rigel finished in first place in the women's weight throw with 17.66 meters. Santornya Ralliford (14.12 meters) and Kennedy Cunningham (13.52 meters) finished in seventh and 10th place in the women's weight throw. In the women's pole vault event, Emily Eterovich finished in first place with 3.97 meters. After setting a PR last weekend at the Midwest Classic, Eterovich set another PR as she beat her record by .16 meters. She is now in second place in RedHawk history for the women's pole vault event. Grace Hicks finished in fourth place in the pole vault event with 3.40 meters. In the women's high jump event, Abbi Deisch (1.60 meters) and Ella Garvin (1.55 meters) finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively. Ralliford (13.14 meters) and Cunningham (12.36 meters) finished in third and seventh place of the women's shot put event.
- In the women's 5000-meter run, Cara Razavi finished in first place with a time of 17:54.42. In the women's mile run, Zubillaga finished in first place with a time of 4:59.29. In the women's 3000-meter run, Cara Naas finished in sixth place with a time of 10:13.61.
- In the men's 60-meter dash prelims, Rondale Carridine finished in first place with a time of 6.77 seconds. Jayson Harrison (6.98 seconds), Angelo Vassilakis (6.98 seconds) and John Podojil (7.07 seconds) finished in third, fifth and sixth place, qualifying for the finals. In the finals, Carridine finished in first place again with 6.74 seconds. Vassilakis (6.96 seconds), Harrison (6.97 seconds), and Podojil (7.07 seconds) finished in third, fourth, and sixth place in the finals as well. Leo Bouldin finished in first place in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 48.84 seconds. Micah Schuster was not far behind him, as Schuster finished in third place with a time of 49.36 seconds. In the men's 800-meter run, Anthony Vlatko finished in first place with a time of 1:54.19. In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Jaxson Tober finished in fourth place with a time of 8.89 seconds. Carridine (22 seconds), Vassilakis (22.08 seconds), and Harrison (22.22 seconds) finished in first, second, and fourth place in the men's 200-meter dash. The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Joey Valeski, Schuster, Bouldin, and Dominic Jackson finished in second place with a time of 3:22.86.
- In the men's mile, Victor Orsinelli finished in first place with a time of 4:13.50. Jack Klein also ran in the men's mile, and he finished in ninth place with a time of 4:20.01. In the men's 3000-meter run, Weston Naville finished in sixth place with a time of 8:42.74
- On the field for the men, Andrew Farrow finished in first place in the men's long jump event with 7.02 meters. Farrow also finished in first place in the men's triple jump event with 13.23 meters. Henry Hoblitzell finished in first place in the men's pole vault event with 4.90 meters. In the men's high jump event, Logan Vowles finished in first place with 2.00 meters. Ben Riegel finished in second place in the men's shot put with 15.66 meters. Reilly Worthington (14.29 meters), Adam Smith (13.93 meters), Richard Obioha (13.66 meters) and Owen Billeter (12.76 meters) finished in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth place in the men's shot put event. In the men's weight throw, Gabe Asbury was the highest placing RedHawk as he finished in second place with 16.28 meters. Billeter (16.16 meters), Riegel (15.45 meters), Worthington (14.68 meters), Blake Presley (13.15 meters), and Obioha (12.36 meters) finished in third, fourth, fifth, eighth, and 10th place, respectively.
