OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team hosted the Miami Classic Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. The women defeated Youngstown State 1087-322. The men also defeated the Penguins 845-529.
How it Happened:
- The meet kicked off with the women's 100-yard butterfly Jenna Halliday finished first with a time of 56.37. Makayla Hoehn came in second and Piper Prince finished third. They recorded times of 56.43 and 57.00 respectively.
- Adrian Dulay finished first in the men's 100-yard butterfly posting a time of 49.07. Tommy Frye was second, earning a time of 49.83.
- The women's 400 IM was next where Caitlyn Groff finished first, turning in a time of 4:29.11.
- After that was the men's 400 IM where Jack Schardt finished first, putting up a time of 4:05.27.
- Chrisna Bezuidenhout was first in the women's 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:51.22. Emily Rinker finished second clocking a time of 1:53.34. Maggie Stock was third with a time of 1:55.02
- The men's 200-yard freestyle was next where Kevin Donaldson finished second, recording a time of 1:43.38. George Clark was third, turning in a time of 1:47.42.
- Kaylin Herbet was first in the women's 100-yard breaststroke, earning a time of 1:01.97. Emma Schueler was second, posting a time of 1:02.52. Caitlin Horn was third with a time of 1:04.95..
- Drew Watson finished first in the men's 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 55.74. Owen Hoban was second, finishing with a time of 56.43. Clark Pabst was third, recording a time of 56.91
- The women's 100-yard backstroke was next where McKenzie Reid finished in first-place, turning in a time of 55.58. Erin Szczupakiewicz was second and Kenadie Glasgow was third with times of 59.41 and 1:00.91 respectively.
- Aaron Black finished first in the men's 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 50.73.
- The women's 200-yard medley relay was next where the women's A team finished first. Madeline Padavic, Schueler, Reid and Julia Waecther turned in a combined time of 1:41.56. The women's B team, consisting of Angelina Cakuls, Natalie Gilson, Szczupakiewicz and Horn, finished second posting a time of 1:43.32. The women's D team finished third. Taylor Connors, Zofia Janaszek-Seydlitz, Makayla Hoehn and Maddy Saldana finished with a combined time of 1:47.08.
- The men's 200-yard medley relay followed, where the men's A team finished first. Black, Ian Wihebrink, Henju Duvenhage and Carter McIntosh turned in a combined time of 1:29.13. The men's B team finished second. Jensen Nelson, Danya Litikin, Scott Spear and Kevin Donaldson earned a combined time of 1:30.50.
- Up next was the men's 1650-yard freestyle where Nick Barrows finished first with a time of 16:17.03.
- Rinker finished first in the women's 200-yard backstroke posting a time of 2:00.08.
- The women's 100-yard freestyle followed where Horn finished first earning a time of 51.76. Avery Catalano finished second and Stock finished third, with times of 52.36 and 53.03 respectively.
- Donaldson finished first in the men's 100-yard freestyle clocking a time of 45.54. McIntosh was second, recording a time of 45.99. Frye was third, turning in a time of 46.52.
- Gilson finished first in the women's 200-yard breaststroke posting a time of 2:18.90. Groff finished second with a time of 2:19.10. Prince came in third-place recording a time of 2:24.71.
- Hoban came in first in the men's 200-yard breaststroke earning a time of 2:03.27. Paul Brosky finished second with a time of 2:04.04.
- Mady Bachmeier was first in the women's 200-yard butterfly posting a time of 2:03.89. Hoehn finished second, turning in a time of 2:08.38. Saldanha was third with a time of 2:08.69.
- The men's 200-yard butterfly followed where Allen Cotton was first clocking a time of 1:47.19.
- Up next was the women's 400-yard freestyle relay where the women's A team finished first. Halliday, Horn, Saldanha and Bezuidenhout turned in a combined time of 3:26.16.
- Swimming events concluded with the men's 200-yard freestyle relay where the men's A team finished first. Watson, Cotton, Donaldson and McIntosh posted a combined time of 1:21.40.
- For diving events, Gretchen Osmun finished fourth in the women's one meter dive, posting a score of 252.95.
- Victor Hearn finished fifth in the men's one meter dive with a score of 255.70
- Vivian Niekamp was fourth in the women's three meter dive earning a score of 262.45
- David Burke finished fourth in the men's three meter dive, tallying a score of 277.75.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks men's swimming and diving team will return to Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center, Wed. Feb. 19, at 6 p.m. to host the Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
