
Thompson Joins RedHawks' Signing Class

OXFORD, Ohio— Miami Hockey head coach Anthony Noreen has added defenseman Ryder Thompson to his program's signing class ahead of the 2025-26 season. Thompson currently plays for the WHL's Portland Winterhawks.
Thompson becomes the 13th member of the RedHawks' recruiting class.
"Ryder is a proven leader and winner that has played a major role for the Portland Winterhawks for the past four seasons," Noreen said. "We are thrilled to have him joining us here at Miami University and believe he will impact our culture and on-ice play immediately."

PRIOR TO MIAMI
- Has appeared in 244 games for Portland since 2021, producing 77 points in that span (12-65-77)
- Finished with a +35 plus-minus rating in the 2023-24 campaign
- Put up 17 points, including career-high seven goals, through 48 games this season
- In his second season as team's alternate captain
- Named Winterhawks' academic player of year in 2021
- Recognized as Winterhawks Award winner (honoring character, leadership, heart and soul) in each of last two years
