BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Miami University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Buffalo for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship Friday, Feb. 28. After day three, the women's team is in third-place among eight teams, scoring 376 points. Other placements were the University of Akron in first with 504 points, Ohio University in second with 424.5 points, University of Buffalo in fourth with 358 points, Ball State University in fifth with 211.5 points, Bowling Green State University in sixth with 155 points, Eastern Michigan University in seventh with 142 points and University of Toledo in eighth with 131 points.
How it Happened:
- The meet kicked off with the 100-yard butterfly where Erin Szczupakiewicz finished sixth, earning a time of 53.87.
- The 400 IM was next where Ashley Sego finished tenth, posting a time of 4:26.11.
- Kaylin Herbet finished third in the 200-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 1:47.84.
- After that was the 100-yard breaststroke where Natalie Gilson finished fourth with a time of 1:01.59
- Up next was the 100-yard backstroke where Madeline Padavic finished first, breaking the MAC, MAC Championship, pool and program record, recording a time of 51.52.
- Swimming events concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay where Herbet, Padavic, Julia Waechter and Jenna Halliday broke the program record with a time of 1:30.47 and finished third.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks women's swimming and diving team will return to Buffalo for day four of the MAC Championships, Saturday March 1. The preliminaries start at 10 a.m. and the finals begin at 6 p.m.
