Tretter, Duvenhage Named Miami Athletes of Week

For their performances last week, Amber Tretter and Henju Duvenhage are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of Feb. 24.

Female Winner: Amber Tretter

Male Winner: Henju Duvenhage
Henju Duvenhage had a dominant performance at the MVC Swimming and Diving Championships, winning two individual events and a relay to go with four total second-place finishes as the Miami men claimed their fifth consecutive conference title. Duvenhage started his championship strong in the 200 medley relay, as Miami set a program record with a second-place time of 1:24.98. Up next was the 200 IM, where Duvenhage came in first with a time of 1:43.79, setting a new MVC overall and championship record. After that, Duvenhage competed in the 400-yard medley, where the men took home second place, posting a combined time of 3:10.65. Next was the 100-yard butterfly where he was runner-up but set a program record with a time of 45.94. In the 100-yard backstroke, Duvenhage finished first, breaking the MVC record with a time of 46.31. The 200 freestyle relay followed, where Duvenhage and the men came in first place with a time of 1:18.59, breaking both the MVC and program record. Duvenhage and the RedHawks capped off an impressive meet with the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing second with a time of 2:55.63. Duvenhage, a fifth-year student-athlete from Cape Town, South Africa, is a Biomedical Engineering major in the College of Engineering and Computing.

Female Winner: Amber Tretter
Amber Tretter averaged 14.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists this past weekend, helping Miami Women's Basketball to a 1-1 record. She also shot 47.4% (9-19) from the floor for the week and recorded a pair of double-doubles. Tretter opened the week with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Akron and added 14 points and 20 rebounds (12 offensive) versus Buffalo. The 20 rebounds are the second-most in Miami history and she becomes just the 22nd player in conference history to record at least 20 rebounds in a MAC game. Tretter, a sophomore from Ferdinand, Ind., is an Architecture major in the College of Creative Arts.
