OXFORD, Ohio— The Miami University men's swimming and diving team continued the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) championships Friday, Feb. 21 at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. After day three, the men's team is in first place among seven teams, scoring 569 points. The rest of the field includes Southern Illinois University in second place with 452 points, Missouri State University in third with 401 points, University of Illinois Chicago in fourth place with 325.5 points, Ball State University in fifth place with 237.5 points, Valparaiso University in sixth place with 113 points and University of Evansville in seventh place with 79 points.
How it Happened:
- Friday's portion of the meet kicked off with the 100-yard butterfly, where Henju Duvenhage finished second, setting a program record with a time of 45.94.
- Up next was the 400 IM where Allen Cotton finished in first-place, breaking the MVC and program record by posting a time of 3:47.06. Owen Hoban was third, earning a personal best time of 3:50.45.
- After that was the 200-yard freestyle, where Bryce Menchhofer came in first, breaking the MVC and program record and producing a time of 1:36.53.
- Adrian Dulay finished fourth in the men's 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 53.90.
- Next was the 100-yard backstroke where Duvenhage was first, breaking the MVC record with a time of 46.31.
- Miami finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Duvenhage, Jack Herczeg, Scott Spear and Tegan Barrier broke the MVC and program record, recording a combined time of 1:18.59.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks men's swimming and diving team will return to Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center for the final day of the MVC Championships, Saturday, Feb. 22. The preliminaries start at 10:30 a.m. and the finals begin at 6 p.m.
