Suszek, Scally Sweep MAC Women's Track Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND-- Miami's Abby Suszek and Ella Scally swept this week's Mid-American Conference women's track and field honors, with Suszek winning Track Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive week and Scally claiming Field Athlete of the Week recognition.
Suszek finished in first place in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 53.36 seconds at Saturday's Gem City Invitational in Springfield, Ohio. This time marks a new PR for Suszek as she beat her previous time by 1.11 seconds. Suszek is second in program history in the 400-meter dash. She also ranks first in the MAC and 44th in the country this season in that event. A native of Mentor, Ohio, Suszek is an Pyschology/Strategic Communication major in the College of Arts and Science.
Scally finished in first place in the women's long jump event at the Gem City Invitational with a mark of 6.27 meters. This distance marks a new PR for Scally as she beats her previous record by .02 meters and replaces her own record for first place in the women's long jump event in Miami history. This season, Scally ranks first in the MAC and 30th in the country for the long jump event. Scally is a Kinesiology major in the College of Education, Health and Society.
The RedHawks are back in action this weekend at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
