Miami Delivers Impressive Results in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C.- The RedHawks' track and field team traveled to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays meet. Tom Heal and Petros Sanchez Ropero added their names to Miami's top 10 list for the 3K steeplechase. Ben Riegel also added his name to the program's record books with a seventh-best mark in hammer throw.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Thursday (3/26)
- Luke Mussard competed in the 1500m race; he ran a time of 3:49.15, a personal best, and placed 101st.
- In the men's 3K steeplechase, Heal placed 20th with a time of 8:50.32, a personal best and third-all time in Miami's program. Sanchez Ropero placed 23rd with a time of 8:51.53, also a personal best for him and fourth-best in Miami's program. Anton Martinez placed 32nd with a time of 9:01.20, a personal record time for him as well.
- In the men's 5k, Evan Jarold finished the race in 14:20.61 for 84th place and a personal best and Patrick Wills finished in 15:07.56 for 195th place.
- Charles Namiot placed 87th in the 10K, finishing in 30:56.35.
- Kate Hallie placed 26th with a mark of 13.46m in shot put.
- In javelin, Matthew Howard placed 11th with a mark of 58.86m and Clark Helgason placed 18th with a mark of 56.04m, a personal best.
- In shot put, Riegel let the Miami men with a 16.06m mark and 18th place, David Lorek (15.79) and Blake Presley (15.74) followed at 22nd and 23rd place, respectively, and Reilly Worthington finished in 28th place with a mark of 15.36m.
- Maggie Dougherty placed 20th in javelin, throwing 39.83m. Allie Melchiorre placed 24th, throwing 37.98m.
- Hallie took seventh place in discus, throwing 49.26m.
- Ella Garvin tied for seventh place in high jump with a mark of 1.72m.
- Richard Obioha placed 15th in discus with a personal best mark of 49.25m. Riegel also threw a personal best of 46.33m for 24th place. Worthington placed 43rd with a mark of 42.96m.
- In the 1500m race, Nora Zubillaga finished in 92nd place with a personal best time of 4:29.42.
- Linda Conchetto and Monica Guijarro competed in the 3K steeplechase, finishing 48th and 67th, respectively. Conchetto ran a personal best of 10:55.72 and Guijarro finished in 11:29.80.
- Cara Razavi placed 181st in the 5K, finishing in 18:17.89.
Saturday (3/28)
- In the 800m run, Avery Emerson took 26th place running a time of 2:09.04 and Eve Traficanti took 63rd place running a time of 2:11.24.
- Dominic Jackson ran a 1:51.82 800m run for a 48th-place finish and Mussard ran a 1:53.51 for a 97th-place finish.
- Garvin finished 46th in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:04.44, and Madison Berger finished 58th with a time of 1:08.57.
- In men's hammer, Riegel placed 18th with the seventh-best mark for a RedHawk of 57.68m, Gabe Asbury placed 35th with a mark of 51.08m, Presley placed 36th with a mark of 50.83m, Worthington placed 45th with a mark of 46.83m and Lorek placed 51st with a mark of 40.87m.
- Mia Boule took second in pole vault, vaulting 3.92m. Emily Eterovich took eighth, vaulting 3.72m.
- Hallie threw 49.18m in the hammer throw for a 27th-place finish and Sharron Kagan threw 46.26m for a 41st-place finish.
