BGSU Advances Past Miami in Penalty Kick Shootout

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Miami University soccer team played to a scoreless draw through two overtimes against Bowling Green State University during a semifinal match in the MAC tournament. BGSU won the ensuing shootout four to three to advance to Friday's final. The RedHawks' record moves to 11-5-3 with the result in their final game of the season. Bowling Green State is now 10-2-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dominique Popa saved a free kick just outside the box in the 12th minute to keep the score tied at 0-0.
- The RedHawks' best chance in the first half was a Sophia Penegor header off a corner kick in the 20th minute that was just wide left of the post.
- A free kick was given to Miami in the 65th minute that Shae Taylor hit over the bar.
- In the 74th minute, Kayla Perfect had a one-on-one to go through on goal, but Bowling Green made the stop.
- The RedHawks came right back in the 76th minute with a Taylor right-footed shot that just went over the bar.
- Millie Cook had a shot from the center of the box in the 100th minute that was saved by Bowling Green.
- Bowling Green's best chance came in the 108th minute with a wide-open shot in the six-yard box that was denied by Popa.
NOTES
- Popa recorded her 11th shutout of the season and the 23rd of her career, tying the program record for both categories.
- The RedHawk defense only allowed 133 shots this season, breaking the single-season program record.
- Taylor had two shots, giving her the third-most on the team for the season (25).
