HOW IT HAPPENED
- 13:02 1st (Miami 1-0) | Giampa got the Red and White on the board first, poking the puck forward in the neutral zone before out-racing two Union players to score the game's first goal. Ilia Morozov lofted the puck ahead for Giampa to retrieve after Michael Quinn initially won it away from the Garnet Chargers behind the RedHawks' goal.
- 4:18 2nd (Union 1-1) | Union found an equalizer early in the second period after killing off a pair of Miami power plays. Tyler Dunbar received the puck from Alex Laurenza and sent a pass across the zone for Etienne Lessard to finish.
- 10:06 2nd (Miami 2-1) | The RedHawks regained the lead near the game's midway point on a power-play goal by Casper Nassen. Nassen ripped a one-timer from a Quinn feed after Ethan Hay won an offensive-zone draw to get the play started.
- 3:24 3rd (Union 2-2) | The Garnet Chargers answered back in the third period to knot the score at 2-2 after Connor Smith tipped home a puck in front that just barely slid across the goal line. Lucas Buzziol took the initial shot and DJ Hart also picked up an assist on the play.
- 16:22 3rd (Miami 3-2) | Giampa grabbed the unassisted game-winner late in a back-and-forth final stanza, getting his stick on a puck in the neutral zone and firing a deep shot that hit Union goaltender Cameron Korpi and then ricocheted off a defender in front and settled into the back of the net. Miami fended off a flurry of chances over the final two minutes with the Union net empty to hang on until the final buzzer and set off a raucous celebration inside SSE Arena.
