How it Happened:
- Indiana Southeast got out to a quick start, scoring the game's first seven points. The RedHawks battled back to tie the game at 13-13 after nearly identical post moves and inside buckets from Amber Tretter and Ilse de Vries. Five quick points from Emily VanTimmeren put Miami ahead for good at the end of the first quarter, 18-15.
- A 9-2 start to the second period gave the hosts some breathing room, as Clara Gonzalez Planella found Macie Taylor with a behind-the-back assist for a right-wing triple and then hit a three-pointer of her own on the next trip down the floor to produce Miami's first double-digit lead. The Grenadiers wouldn't go away, closing the gap to 29-25, but the Red and White responded with a 13-2 spurt to close the half. Blumenfeld scored inside twice, sandwiched around an Amber Scalia three, to push the margin back to a dozen. Free throws from Tretter and Scalia secured a 15-point halftime lead for Miami at 42-27, its largest of the period.
- The RedHawks put the game out of reach with a quick 13-0 burst in the third quarter, capped by a left-wing three from Scalia that made it 55-29. Miami's defense held the visitors scoreless during a four-minute stretch, including multiple highlight-reel blocks by de Vries. The Red and White scored the final eight points of the quarter, including a VanTimmeren layup off Singer's 10th assist of the game that surpassed the 67-point mark as a team and sent the elementary school-age children in attendance into a frenzy. Miami took a 68-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
- Miami pulled away down the stretch, outsourcing the Grenadiers 26-5 in the final quarter to cap a 52-point half and finish off a 94-40 victory. Scalia contributed four of her season-high seven assists in the period for the hosts.
Game Notes:
- Singer became the first RedHawk to reach double-digits in assists since Dec. 16, 2022 (Maddi Cluse); only two Miami players have ever put up more assists in a game at Millett Hall (Courtney Osborn and D'Nelle Seiple, 13 each) than Singer did this afternoon.
- VanTimmeren finished with a career-high 14 points.
- The RedHawks racked up 57 bench points and 52 points in the paint while shooting 56.5% from the floor, holding Indiana Southeast to 25.6% shooting, and out-rebounding the Grenadiers 44-19.
- Taylor recorded a career-high two blocks.
- Anna Hurst made her first career start for the Red and White.
- The RedHawks produced their highest scoring total since Nov. 22, 2024 vs. Hiram (a 97-41 win).
