Miami University Golf head coach JD Fletcher announced the signing of incoming recruit Jack Callahan today. Callahan, a native of Alpharetta, Ga., will join the RedHawks ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Â
"We are very excited for the addition of Jack Callahan in the fall of 2026," Fletcher said. "Normally we do not recruit the South very hard, but Jack was very persistent and professional in his emails and contact in general. Jack will now be one of two Georgia players on our team next fall, along with Joseph Canitano. Joe and Jack both attended the prestigious Rivers Academy. I know Joe is very excited about this addition, and it will be great for our program to begin a Georgia pipeline. Georgia is a very deep state when it comes to talented junior golfers and the Miami brand is very well known in the Atlanta area specifically.
Â
"Jack has an amazing set of parents in both Kent and Lee Callahan. Kent is a very distinguished businessman who instilled great character and habits into Jack. Lee is the most gracious and cheerful person I think I have ever met. Her energy is contagious and very positive. This combination has led to raising an incredible young man. The first thing I noticed in Jack was that he always said 'Yes sir' when responding to me; you don't always hear that in today's generation.
Â
"We all had an instant connection on his official visit to Miami. Culture is very important to us and we feel that both Jack and his family will add extreme value to our culture," Fletcher continued. "Culture is very important in today's college landscape with the portal, NIL, etc. My goal is to bring in players that want to bleed Red and White and understand how amazing the value proposition here is at Miami University.
Â
"The most impressive piece from Jack was not only his ability to compete against the best juniors in the country and hold the 227th rank in the country overall (TUGR), but he also showed that he can compete against the best amateurs in Georgia when he managed a top-20 finish this past summer at Atlanta Country Club in the Georgia Amateur. This event had a WAGR ranking power of 184, which is close to what we see in our schedule, and showed that Jack is more than capable of competing at a very elite level. Another reason we brought Jack here was my connection with his swing coach Chris Moore. Chris is the Director of Instruction at Atlanta Athletic Club and brings a very holistic outlook on how he develops players. I believe we will be able to provide an amazing team of people around Jack and develop him into an amazing golfer and representative of Miami University.
Â
"The mission of Miami Athletics is Graduating Champions, which inevitably means academic and athletic excellence at the highest level. Jack embodies this mission statement and is ready to get to work!," Fletcher concluded.
