Hoban and Rolfsen Receive Weekly MVC Swim/Dive Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced its Swimmer and Freshman of the Week winners today, and two RedHawks were honored. Owen Hoban is the MVC Men's Swimmer of the Week and Elijah Rolfsen was selected MVC Men's Freshman of the Week.
Hoban had an impressive weekend, posting a first-place finish, three second-place finishes and a sixth place relay finish. Hoban kicked the weekend off Friday, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle against Northern Kentucky University with a time of 20.91. On Saturday, against the University of Pittsburgh, Hoban finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke, earning a personal best time of 2:01.25. Hoban finished second in the 200-yard butterfly, turning in a season best time of 1:46.01. After that, Hoban finished second in the 200-yard IM posting a time of 1:47.74. Hoban's relay team finished sixth in the 200-yard medley, where he posted an individual time of 21.04 in the breaststroke leg.
Rolfsen had a dominant weekend in the pool, posting four first-place finishes across two meets. Rolfsen kicked off the weekend Friday against Northern Kentucky University, winning the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:54.44 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:42.84. On Saturday, in a dual meet against the University of Pittsburgh, Rolfsen continued his strong performance, winning both the 1000-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 9:10.50 and the 500-yard freestyle with another season-best of 4:24.68.
The Miami swimming and diving team returns home to host the Miami Invitational Nov. 19. Events start at 5 p.m.
