COLORADO SPRINGS--Â The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its Players of the Week presented by KJ Branding today, and Miami freshman forward Justin Stupka was named the National's Rookie of the Week.
Stupka scored in each of his first two collegiate games last weekend to help Miami sweep Ferris State for the first time in 15 years. Stupka produced the go-ahead goal in a comeback win Friday and added a goal just 16 seconds into Saturday's contest to give Miami the early momentum. Stupka was named the Second Star in the series finale, grabbing the earliest goal the RedHawks have scored in a game since Nov. 30, 2013.
Stupka and the 2-0-0 RedHawks are back in action this weekend at RPI. Puck drop on Friday, Oct. 10 is set for 7 p.m. in Troy, N.Y.
