WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Miami posted a 2-1 overtime loss to the No. 7 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Sunday after giving up a goal early in the sudden-victory fifth period. The RedHawks fall to 7-4 with the loss while Wake Forest improves to 9-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Miami earned two penalty corners in the first period, but the Demon Deacons held them scoreless.
Wake Forest scored on a penalty corner early in the second period to take a 1-0 advantage.
The RedHawks generated two more penalty corners to round out the first half but were unable to capitalize.
Sloane Wearren buried a penalty stroke less than a minute into the second half to tie the game at 1-1.
The RedHawks defended two penalty corners in the fourth period to send the game into an overtime period.
An unassisted goal by Wake Forest put the lid on the 2-1 game in the fifth period.

MIAMI GAME NOTES:

The RedHawks and Demon Deacons each generated five penalty corners.
Wearren had three shots on goal.
