RedHawks Open Season Hosting Old Dominion

SEASON OPENER: Miami men's basketball enters the 2025-26 regular season opener by hosting Old Dominion on Monday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. Travis Steele begins his fourth season at the helm of the program after finishing his third season with a 25-9 (14-4 MAC) record.
RETURNING CAST: Miami returns 10 players from 2024-25, and behind fourth-year head coach Travis Steele, the men's team is coming off a season that saw the most wins in program history.
ABOUT OLD DOMINION: Old Dominion went 15-20 and 8-10 in conference play last year. Head coach Mike Jones begins his second season with the Monarchs. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Old Dominion was selected to finish fifth overall in the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. Junior guard Robert Davis Jr. was named the Preseason Player of the Year and a Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team selection. Senior guard Jordan Battle earned a spot on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team as well.
THE SERIES WITH THE MONARCHS: The RedHawks are 2-0 when facing off with the Monarchs. The last time Miami took on Old Dominion, the Red and White secured a 64-57 victory on November 24, 2000 in a neutral site contest in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
UP NEXT: Miami continues its homestand versus Trinity College (Ill.) on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
2025-26 ROSTER: The RedHawks boast six freshmen, one redshirt sophomore, one sophomore, six juniors and three seniors. One of these players is finding a new home in Oxford after transferring to Miami University this season. Miami has seven new players on the 2025-26 roster.
MAC PRESEASON POLL: On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Mid-American Conference released its annual men's basketball preseason coaches poll. Akron was named first in the preseason rankings with 143 points and was followed by Miami (133), Kent State (122), Ohio (108), UMass (98), Toledo (95), Bowling Green (73), Ball State (62), Eastern Michigan (52), Western Michigan (46), Buffalo (37), Central Michigan (31) and Northern Illinois (14). Peter Suder was picked Preseason All-MAC First Team, and Eian Elmer was selected Preseason All-MAC Second Team.
COLLEGE INSIDER PRESEASON MID-MAJOR TOP 25: The Miami University men's basketball team earned a spot on the Preseason Mid-Major Top 25® Poll for the 2025-26 season, as the Red and White rank No. 10 overall heading into this upcoming season.
