RedHawks Run Multiple Personal Bests at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind.– The RedHawk cross country teams traveled to Notre Dame to compete in the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday morning. Both teams competed in the blue division against a variety of opponents including teams from the MAC, Big 10 and SEC. The women placed 14th out of 20 teams and scored 379 points. The men placed 18th out of 18 teams with 414 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Leading the RedHawk women in the 5-kilometer race was Marisa Heil (17:02.9), as she placed 41st out of 180 competitors and beat her previous collegiate personal record in the 5k by eight seconds. Other RedHawks with PR's were Nora Zubillaga (17:33.3), Linda Conchetto (17:44.2) and Cara Naas (18:02.0).
Ava Nuttall (17:19.1), Cara Razavi (17:35.1), Monica Guijarro (19:01.5), Emma Morrow (19:27.7) and Emma Berres (19:30.8) also ran for the red and white in the 5k race.
Petros Sanchez Ropero led the Miami men in the 8k race, running a personal record of 23:54.1, placing 51st out of 150 runners. Ben Fahnestock (24:30.5), Josh Razor (24:49.3) and Weston Naville (24:52.7) all also ran personal bests in the 8k race.
Other finishers for the RedHawks were Chris Perkins (24:26.1), Tom Heal (24:29.7) and Brock Waugh (24:59.7).
