RedHawks Down OU 4-1 in Final Road Game

OXFORD, Ohio – The RedHawks beat Ohio 4-1 on Friday in the 1000th game in school history. Miami improves to 12-4 (7-1 MAC) with the win while Ohio falls to 5-11 (3-5 MAC) with the loss.

MIAMI GAME NOTES:
UP NEXT: Miami's final regular-season game will take place at home next Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. against Longwood. With a win, the RedHawks can clinch the regular-season MAC title.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Finley Payne scored her first goal of the season to put Miami on the board early in the first period.
- Sloane Wearren scored the RedHawks' second goal of the day midway through the second period. The score came on a penalty corner with an assist from Malena Sabez.
- Justina Intzes scored unassisted, her 17th goal of the season, to close out the first half with a score of 3-0 in favor of Miami.
- After two unsuccessful shots early in the fourth, Wearren found the back of the net again to put Miami ahead 4-0. Bet Gifra assisted.
- Ohio answered with a goal minutes later to make it 4-1, but was unable to close the remainder of the gap.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- The RedHawks totaled 19 shots (two on goal) and held the Bobcats to two shots (two on goal).
- The RedHawks generated eight penalty corners and held the Bobcats to two.
- Wearren went 2-for-4 with three shots on goal
- Intzes went 1-for-3 with two shots on goal.
- Gifra had three shots on goal and an assist.
UP NEXT: Miami's final regular-season game will take place at home next Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. against Longwood. With a win, the RedHawks can clinch the regular-season MAC title.
