Justina Intzes and Nicky Sjouken, two members of the Miami University field hockey team, captured weekly awards from the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Intzes was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Sjouken earned MAC Goalkeeper of the Week.
Â
Intzes scored both the game-winning and insurance goals as Miami defeated James on the road in a crucial MAC contest. She was instrumental on both offense and defense, playing a key role in the press to limit JMU's chances while also earning corners at the offensive end of the field. Her two goals helped Miami stay on top of the conference standings with a road victory.
Â
Sjouken was outstanding in the cage, making seven saves to keep JMU off the board, including not allowing any goals off corners. The only goal came from an unsettled situation in front of the cage. Her ability to make saves kept the defense inspired and helped Miami to a key conference victory on the road.
