KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Miami University women's basketball team scored the final six points in a 57-51 victory over Western Michigan University on Saturday afternoon. Enjulina Gonzalez scored a game-high 23 points as the RedHawks improve to 8-4, 1-1 MAC. Marina Asensio led WMU (4-8, 1-1 MAC) with 16 points.

How it Happened:
- Miami committed five turnovers in the first quarter and the Broncos connected on 7-of-9 free throws as the RedHawks trailed 14-11 after 10 minutes of play. Ilse de Vries led the Red and White with five points.
- Cori Lard's triple knotted the game at 14 apiece to begin the second quarter, but WMU responded with a 7-3 run to claim a 21-17 advantage with six minutes left in the quarter. The Broncos gathered their largest lead of the half, 29-23, with 2:30 to play before seven-combined points from Amber Tretter and de Vries gave Miami their first lead of the contest. WMU would head to the locker room up 32-30.
- A step-back three-pointer from Gonzalez brought the RedHawks to within one, 36-35, but a triple from WMU gave the Broncos a four-point lead three minutes into the third quarter. Gonzalez added a pair of free throws and a layup from Maya Chandler as the shot clock was expiring, knotted the game at 39 apiece at the media timeout. The Broncos then scored the next five points and led 47-41 with 2:48 remaining in the third. Chandler knocked down a pair of free throws and added a layup as the clocked expired to cut the deficit, 47-45, with 10 minutes to play.
- Gonzalez made her second triple of the contest for a one-point Miami advantage to begin the final stanza. After WMU connected on a jumper to reclaim the lead, Tretter drilled a three-pointer from atop the key for a 51-49 Miami lead with 4:30 to play. Both teams were held scoreless over the next three minutes until WMU's put-back tied to game 51-51 with 90 seconds to play. Gonzalez was 6-of-6 from the foul line to close out Miami's victory, 57-51.
Game Notes:
- To go along with her 23 points, Gonzalez was 9-of-10 from the foul line and had a season-best seven rebounds.
- Miami as a team connected on 16-of-18 free throws, while WMU was 12-of-18.
- Lard played a season-high 27 minutes, filling in for an injured Tamar Singer.
